CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Several inches of snow fell in the mountains Sunday evening as the same system brought sleet and rain to the Charlotte region.
Temperatures dipped down into the uppers 20s late in the day as a burst of precipitation moved into the region.
Depending on where you were determined whether you saw rain, sleet or snow, according to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg.
Beech Mountain saw more than 4 inches of snow while Lenoir only saw a trace amount of snow in Caldwell County, according to the NWS.
Boone reported nearly 1.5 inches and Seven Devils reported 4.5 inches, both in Watauga County.
Several area schools were either delayed or closed as temperatures were not expected to climb back above freezing until Monday morning when the sun returned.
The highs for Monday across the area were forecast around 50 degrees.
