Teen arrested for B&E, larceny, deputies say

An Alexander County teenager has been arrested for a home burglary, according to a release from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 10, members of the Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Elihue Millsaps, 17, and charged him with one count each of breaking and entering and larceny, larceny after breaking and entering, and felony larceny. 

Officials said the incident occurred at a home on Micky Hager MHP Drive in Stony Point. Several items were stolen from the home. 

Millsaps was placed under a $15,0000 bond.

Female teacher charged with sex crime against teen student

TAYLORSVILLE, NC (WBTV)- An investigation is underway against a high school teacher after she is accused of sex charges against a teenage student.

Investigators in Taylorsville arrested Alexander Central High School Algebra teacher Nikki Setzer Icard on Tuesday morning.

She was charged with indecent liberties with an 18-year-old male student.

According to the school's website, Icard taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2.  She hosted tutoring sessions before and after school and held a Math Lab every Thursday after school with the Senior Beta Club.

Investigators told WBTV that Icard was the student's senior project advisor and his teacher.

She has been placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.

Operation "Road Watch" ends on successful note

The Highway Patrol completed its Operation "Road Watch" campaign after a two-day intensive enforcement effort on I-85 in Cleveland and surrounding counties. 

During the two-day event, which began on Tuesday, May 14, and ended on Wednesday, May 15, Troopers concentrated on commercial motor vehicle violations as well as focused their attention on motorists who were driving aggressively around big trucks, speeding, tailgating, and driving aggressively.

Established in 2007, Operation "Road Watch" was designed to improve commercial motor vehicle safety as well as the efficiency of commercial vehicle operations.

Officials: Man arrested for failing to register as sex offender

Investigators with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man they say moved without registering as a sex offender.

Lee Earnest Williams, 31, of Gastonia was registered as a sex offender in Alexander County. However, deputies said, Williams was not living in Alexander County.

After investigators learned that he was living in Gaston County, a warrant was issued for him for failing to register as a sex offender. Gaston County officials arrested Williams, and he is currently being held under a $210,500 secured bond. 

His first court appearance is April 30. Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and Gaston County Sheriff’s Office have warrants for failing to register in their jurisdictions.

A Taylorsville man was arrested Tuesday for having a social media webpage while being a registered sex offender, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Lee Williams, 33, and charged him with Maintaining a Social Media Webpage while being a registered sex offender in N.C., which is illegal in the state. 

Williams was placed under a $7,500 secured bond. His first court appearance is set for Monday, April 22. 

He is currently being held in the Alexander County Detention Center.

“No Need 2 Speed” Campaign cites 14,542 motorists in NC

A total of 42,290 traffic and criminal citations were issued statewide during this year’s “No Need 2 Speed” campaign, which ran March 25 through 31. 

Law enforcement officers from across the state partnered with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program to increase enforcement in an effort to put a stop to one of the main causes of crashes and fatalities on North Carolina’s roads – speeding.

“Law enforcement’s presence on our roads is imperative to reminding motorists to obey speed limits, and we greatly appreciate their dedication to keeping our roads safe,” said Becky Wallace, director of GHSP.

Officers also issued 3,157 safety belt and 587 child passenger safety violations and 1,111 drug charges.

Sheriff: Man shoots at car, hurts person inside

Deputies arrested a man in connection with a shooting in Lenoir Friday.

Justin Matthew Wilson of Lenoir is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the intersection of Duck Creek Road and HT Road at 8:55 p.m., where they took statements from local residents who heard shots being fired in the area.

Around this time, the Alexander County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from victims saying that they were shot at in Caldwell County and one subject in the vehicle had been shot.

Wilson is currently being held at the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.

The gunshot victim was treated and released from Frye Regional Medical Center.

Deputies are still investigating the motive in this case.
