New at The Hiddenite Center's Lucas Mansion Gallery: Emerging artist Joseph Eck

HIDDENITE - Born and raised in Reading, PA, Joseph Eck has had an interest in drawing since the young age of 8 years old.  What began as a fascination with Sunday comic strips has blossomed into a finely honed set of skills.  This newly discovered artist works primarily in pastel and has a keen mastery of portraiture and landscape.

Eck now finds his roots in Bethlehem, North Carolina and is exhibiting for the first time at The Hiddenite Center’s Lucas Mansion Gallery during the months of January and February 2012.

“We are so pleased to present these incredible works by a budding new artist in our community,” said Gallery Curator, Allison Houchins. “Part of our mission at the Hiddentie Center is to provide a forum for emerging artists , encouraging them to grow in their considerable talents. Joseph Eck possesses a real mastery of the pastel medium and we look forward to seeing many more great works from this new artist.”

New music and storytelling program debuts at The Hiddenite Center

New music and storytelling program debuts at The Hiddenite Center

HIDDENITE - It is appropriate that Mike Lowe should premiere his brand new program of music and storytelling entitled, "Places I've Talked to and People I've Seen,” as the first performance of the new year at the Hiddenite Center.

The fact that Lowe is debuting this new material right in the middle of the Hiddenite Center’s 30th anniversary is especially fitting because Lowe has been an integral part of so many of Hiddenite Center events and programs throughout that thirty year legacy.

This special evening of songs, music, and stories from master storyteller, Mike Lowe of Mt. Airy , NC, will be held at the Hiddenite Center’s Educational Complex on Thursday, January, 26, 2012. The evening will begin at 7:00pm and will include a delicious meal.
